NATO and Ukraine
In January 2026, McConnell argued for continued U.S. leadership in trans-Atlantic security. In April he joined Senator Chris Coons in a statement supporting NATO unity. On his September return, Reuters reported that he highlighted NATO ties and countering Russian aggression in Ukraine.
Defense production
In March 2026, McConnell called for greater production of munitions, spare parts and military equipment.
