Editorial Policy
This policy describes the principles that guide news, explainers, and analysis published by Shivam Das News for the U.S. English edition. Our aim is to provide useful, understandable information while being transparent about sources, uncertainty, corrections, and the difference between reporting and opinion.
Accuracy and context
We aim to verify key facts before publication and to provide context that helps readers understand a development. We distinguish confirmed information from allegations, estimates, predictions, commentary, and unresolved questions. For developing stories, details may change as official statements, records, or reliable reporting become available.
Sources and attribution
We prioritize primary sources when available, including official documents, public records, statements, data, and direct materials. We may also consult established news organizations, subject-matter experts, and other credible sources. We consider the source’s authority, date, context, and possible limitations. Claims from social media or anonymous sources are not automatically treated as verified facts. We aim to link or name important sources so readers can follow the evidence.
Headlines and summaries
Headlines and introductions should accurately represent the article. They may simplify a complex topic for readability, but should not intentionally mislead, exaggerate certainty, or imply facts that the article does not support. Search and social summaries should remain consistent with the body of the story.
News, analysis, and opinion
News reporting focuses on what is known and how it is supported. Analysis explains significance, context, or possible implications. Opinions and interpretations should be understood as such and should not be presented as undisputed fact. When an article relies on a particular viewpoint or source, the context should be made clear.
Corrections and updates
We take credible reports of errors seriously. When contacting us, please include the article URL, the specific claim at issue, and reliable supporting material. We review requests and correct substantive factual errors when warranted. Where appropriate, we may add an update note or clarify the text. Minor copy edits may not receive a separate note. Our Contact page is the main route for correction requests.
Independence and commercial relationships
Advertising and commercial relationships should not dictate editorial conclusions. Sponsored content, paid placements, or affiliate relationships, if present, should be clearly identified. A link or mention does not by itself mean that Shivam Das News endorses a product, service, public figure, or organization.
Images and third-party material
Images, charts, video, and embedded posts should be relevant to the subject and presented with appropriate context. Captions and credits should not imply that an illustrative image documents an event unless that is established. Third-party content remains subject to the rights and policies of its owner or provider.
Respect, privacy, and sensitive topics
We seek to avoid unnecessary disclosure of private information and to treat sensitive subjects with care. Public interest, relevance, safety, and the risk of harm should be considered when handling personal details. We do not ask readers to send passwords or highly sensitive personal data through general contact forms.
Independence and accountability
We welcome reader feedback and use it to identify unclear explanations, missing context, and potential errors. Editorial practices may evolve as the publication grows. For more information about the site, see About; for questions or concerns, use Contact.
Verification and Corrections
Our editorial process aims to check names, dates, quotations, figures, and other material facts against reliable sources before publication. The level of verification depends on the nature and urgency of a story, and we aim to make uncertainty clear when information is incomplete or disputed. We may update an article as new evidence emerges, and we seek to correct meaningful factual errors rather than silently leaving readers with misleading information.
Independence and Transparency
Writers should distinguish fact from interpretation and disclose relevant conflicts of interest. Headlines and summaries should reflect the substance of the article, not promise conclusions the article cannot support. Images and captions should be relevant and presented in context. Reader feedback is welcome, but editorial decisions are based on accuracy, relevance, fairness, and public interest rather than pressure to reach a predetermined conclusion.
Use of Sources and Quotations
We aim to use sources that are relevant to the claim being discussed and to represent quotations in their original context. Anonymous or unnamed sources, where used, require careful consideration of their relevance and the reasons for protecting their identity. A source’s statement is not automatically proof that the statement is true; important claims should be assessed against available evidence. We avoid implying that a source said more than the material supports and try to make attribution understandable to readers.
Fairness and Updates
When a story includes a significant criticism or disputed allegation, appropriate context and a fair description of the available response can help readers evaluate it. Editorial independence means that coverage should not be shaped solely by pressure from advertisers, partners, subjects, or audience reaction. We may update a story when new facts meaningfully change its context. Feedback is assessed on its substance and evidence, not simply on how strongly it is expressed.
