Quick answer: No. Saturday Night Live is not airing a new episode tonight, Saturday, September 19, 2026. NBC is in the final week of the summer break, and SNL Season 52 premieres Saturday, September 26, with Jalen Brunson hosting and KATSEYE as musical guest.
Is SNL new tonight?
If you searched “is SNL new tonight,” “SNL tonight,” or simply “SNL” because Saturday night normally means Studio 8H, the answer for September 19 is straightforward: there is no new episode tonight. The most recent season ended May 16 with Will Ferrell returning as host, and the show is now one week away from its fall return.
That distinction matters because SNL can feel like a weekly appointment even during its breaks. A Saturday without a new monologue, Weekend Update or fresh sketches can be easy to miss if you are checking a TV guide at the last minute.
When does Saturday Night Live return?
SNL returns Saturday, September 26, 2026, for the Season 52 premiere. NBC's current season information identifies Jalen Brunson as the first host and KATSEYE as the musical guest.
Brunson is an especially timely choice for the premiere. The New York Knicks point guard is coming off an NBA championship season, giving the show a host whose public profile is already tied to New York sports and the city's wider entertainment culture. KATSEYE arrives as a global girl group with a multinational lineup and a fast-growing pop audience.
What time is SNL on tonight?
There is no new episode to watch tonight, but when a new episode airs, Saturday Night Live normally begins at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC. New episodes are also available to stream live on Peacock.
For viewers planning ahead, the September 26 premiere is the night to put on the calendar. If you are searching “what time is SNL tonight,” the useful answer today is really a return-date reminder: the next new SNL is September 26 at 11:30 p.m. ET.
Who is hosting the next new SNL?
Jalen Brunson will host the Season 52 premiere. KATSEYE will serve as musical guest. NBC has also announced several subsequent Season 52 pairings, including Dakota Johnson with Turnstile on October 3, Shane Gillis with Rosalía on October 10, and Inde Navarrette with Gracie Abrams on October 31.
Why is SNL off tonight?
The September 19 gap is part of the show's normal transition between seasons. Season 51 concluded in May, and the late-summer period gives the writers, cast and production team time to prepare a completely new season.
That preparation is particularly interesting this year because Season 52 begins with visible cast changes. NBC has announced new featured players Saidah Belo-Osagie and Grace Reiter. Ashley Padilla and Jane Wickline have also been promoted to repertory status.
SNL Season 52 cast changes explained
Season 52 is not simply a reset of the same ensemble. Chloe Fineman is leaving the show after seven seasons, while Bowen Yang departed during Season 51. Martin Herlihy, associated with the Please Don't Destroy comedy group, is also no longer returning.
The additions bring a different mix of internet comedy, sketch performance and traditional television experience. Grace Reiter has built an online audience through comedy work on YouTube and TikTok and has appeared in HBO's The Chair Company. Saidah Belo-Osagie is a New York-based comedian, filmmaker and writer whose work includes the Afrobeats Futura event series and the short film Tinge.
The bigger story behind “SNL tonight”
The useful answer behind tonight's search is not just whether a new episode exists. Viewers usually need the return date, host, musical guest, start time and the key changes made during the break. That is why September 19 is best understood as the final countdown to Season 52 rather than an ordinary Saturday-night episode.
Where can you watch SNL?
New episodes air on NBC and stream live on Peacock. Peacock also carries past episodes.
