LOS ANGELES — Maura Higgins and professional partner Mark Ballas earned the highest score of Dancing With the Stars Season 35 Premiere Night 2, receiving 21 out of 30 for their foxtrot to Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet.”
What to know
The pair, who previously appeared together on The Traitors, delivered a performance that impressed all three judges. Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli each awarded a seven, matching the top score from Night 1 achieved by Harry Shum Jr.
Higgins, known for her appearances on Love Island and The Traitors, used a Traitors-inspired theme in the routine. Ballas, a veteran pro and multiple Mirrorball winner, choreographed the number that highlighted both elegance and personality.
The strong opening night score places Higgins among the early favorites as the competition continues on Tuesdays.
