Netflix Originals versus licensed titles
A Netflix Original is generally content produced, commissioned or distributed as a Netflix original, while the wider “new on Netflix” calendar can also contain licensed movies and older TV seasons.
Netflix Original releases later in September
The remaining September calendar includes original and co-produced projects across comedy, drama, animation, reality and documentary formats. Titles such as LEGO ONE PIECE, The Arena and The Widower: ’Til Death Do Us Part are scheduled for the final days of the month.
What makes September 2026 different?
The month spreads Originals across multiple genres instead of relying on one flagship release, creating separate search intents around new movies, returning series, true crime, animation, international dramas and family programming.
